Caring for Your Mind

Updated: Jan 9, 2025

Mental Health matters every single day.

Mental health is more than just being mentally-ill.

It is more than our trauma and insecurities and limiting beliefs.

It is more than the bad days and the good days.

It is more than our tears and our smiles.

It is more than our "mood swings" and our sleepless nights.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, physical and social well-being.

EVERYONE has a mental health.

Some people simply have a dis-ease. It can be temporary, or a lifelong journey.

Someone might need medication to find balance and happiness, just like someone would take insulin for diabetes.

Everyone has moments of joy. Everyone has moments of struggles. This last year mental health has been negatively affected for many. Symptoms of anxiety and depression are on the rise. Waiting lists are getting longer. Our support systems are overwhelmed. It’s about time we stop pretending "everything is okay" and we let go of toxic positivity. You need to take care of yourself and to make your mental health a priority, because nobody else will do it for you.

Please be compassionate with yourself and others. Emotions are part of the human experience and our brain is an organ too - there’s no point in feeling shame or guilt for something that’s normal. Today and every day, don’t be scared to ask for help. It's okay not to be okay.

Remember, hard things don't last forever. You are capable of so much more than your fears and doubts. I believe in you.
